The studio is run by three partners. Erica handles the client experience and the install, Stephanie runs operations, and Jill leads the design. Between them, a project stays personal from the first conversation through the last delivery.

Erica has always believed a home should feel approachable, a grounding place of calm and peace. As co-founder of STELLAN Fine Things, a bespoke home goods store, she curates heirloom-quality wares from craftspeople around the globe who share her devotion to timelessness, integrity, and sustainability.

That same reverence for place and permanence carries into her work as a partner in STELLAN Design, where she creates spaces that feel timeless, grounded, and cohesive: rooms that tell the story of the people who inhabit them. Erica oversees the client experience and project implementation, ensuring every client relationship is defined by transparency and efficiency, from initial concept to final install. Bringing that sense of quiet luxury to life for clients, while honoring their personal vision, is what she loves most.

Stephanie co-owns STELLAN Fine Things alongside her wife Erica, bringing the discipline and clarity that turn a shared vision into a thriving business. While she will be the first to say design isn't her natural language, she's endlessly energized by the mission behind it: building a company rooted in timelessness, integrity, and sustainability, and watching that vision take shape in the hands of skilled makers and in the homes of their clients.

As a partner in STELLAN Design, Stephanie oversees operations and finances, the steady infrastructure that allows creativity to flourish without friction. She believes that a well-run business is its own kind of craftsmanship, one built on precision, trust, and follow-through. For Stephanie, the reward is not only in the beautiful spaces the team creates, but in knowing the foundation beneath them is just as solid.

Jill Matthews

Jill Matthews

Partner · Creative Director · Lead Designer

Jill holds a degree from the University of Vermont, where she majored in art education and minored in fine and studio art, building a strong foundation in color theory and the principles of visual design. She has spent more than 25 years as a professional artist, exhibiting in galleries across the East and West Coasts. She previously owned and operated a fine art gallery representing accomplished regional artists, and currently maintains a studio in a historic train station in Southern Maine, where she creates work for her representing galleries.

Her artistic background is complemented by extensive hands-on experience with residential design and construction. Having served as general contractor on multiple residential projects, Jill has guided homes from initial concept through completion, bringing thoughtful spatial planning and an artist's sensitivity to color, material, proportion, and detail.

Rooted in STELLAN's philosophy of designing with intention, Jill believes in creating spaces that are both functional and beautiful, spaces that invite connection, honor meaningful pieces, and reflect the way we wish to live in our homes.
